Make Friends with Math!

The Virginia School of Math makes math approachable and non-intimidating, and students come to like and "make friends" with the subject of math.

Students also make friends with other students in their math circles. Learning math becomes a social activity.

Finally, the Virginia School of Math will put your family's interest first, become your family's trusted math advisor, and earn your family's friendship.

Who is this for?

We are a year-round, in-person math program in Northern Virginia for students in grades 3 to 12. We help students:

  • Succeed in their current math courses
  • Accelerate through the standard math sequence
  • Identify and address math gaps and weaknesses
  • Apply math creatively to solve open-ended problems

Math Circles

Students meet in-person in small-group Math Circles and, with the help of instructors, complete school assignments and prepare for tests. Math Circle sessions are one hour and forty-five minutes long, and meet on Sundays.

Also, we have developed our own diagnostic tests and workbooks aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. At our Math Circles, students use this curriculum to pursue their individual goals for review, reinforcement, and acceleration.

Math is Like Sports!

Math talent must be developed like athletic talent. Great math students are made, not born.

To reach their full potential, math students, like athletes, need deliberate practice, expert coaching, and supportive teammates.
